Sounds wonderful....having lettuce in the winter will taste extra special. I just came back from the West Hartford market this morning and got a HUGE amount of collards, among other veg. Being a localvore is teaching me all about new veg/food!

Hi Mangchild,

Yes, I am stocking up on the goodies!!

The Fairfield Winter Market is exceptional. They have a variety of meat vendors, cheese and other dairy products, fresh clams, and even hydroponic lettuce all winter long. They also ahve a few bakeries and craft-type booths, although I go predominantly for the local food.

So happy to have found your blog! I'm also a CT localvore in Newington, and am always looking for sources for veg, fruit, and grain. I found Wild Hive Farm as well as the RI corn/grain mill (forgetting its name).... your posts are a great guide for me. Are you stocking up on fall goodies? I'm drowning in winter squash, but I know I will be happy for them in real winter. What do you get at the Fairfield winter market? I've never been there before.... and am excited for them to open later this November :-)
