That is weird about the milk not being able to be sold in that town. Odd.

You managed to score yourself some yummy sounding grub for the week. Fresh apples, wahoo! That is one of the only fruits (aside from pears) that we can get into the dead of winter here in the Midwests, Cortlands are the variety I picked up last time actually. And your carola potatoes! Yum! I think those are my favorite variety of potatoes.

Hi Mangochild: I'm in Newtown, so New London and Litchfield are a bit out there. I have gone to New Haven several times and like the market a lot, but the Fairfield market is certainly the closest. The markets I go to most often are on my Foodshed page although most are closed right now.

YEY for the Fairfield market! I went there 2 weeks ago and was so glad to learn of it. The vendors were wonderful, especially having the veg from Riverbank farm. Apples, wheeee! You can store them too for a long time, I have some from October that are doing great and I keep replenishing the store. They sort of dry from the outside in, and stay nice and clean inside.
How is the Trinity Farm yogurt? I forgot to get some last week to try - tasty?
Oh, wanted to share: I forget exactly where you are in CT, but there are also winter markets on Saturdays running through April in New London (at Fiddleheads Coop), the Litchfield Community Center, and the New Haven Farmers Market. Um... here's a link if you want to take a look: http://www.ct.gov/doag/cwp/view.asp?a=3260&q=398996

[...] Town of Fairfield Conn. prohibits sales of raw milk? — “….It turns out that the town of Fairfield has an ordinance against selling raw milk, so if you want Beaver Brook’s raw milk, you need to get it at the New Haven market. Whassup with that, Fairfield?!…” [...]
