If you haven’t had the opportunity to see Michael Pollan speak, take it now! I saw him a while back and he was excellent.

Oh wow. I have a lot of a respect for him and I feel like I’ve missed the chance to hear him speak a couple of times already.
But I didn’t love his most recent NYT piece. I hope to post my thoughts on it soon, before I forget them, but after they’ve stewed a bit . . .

Thanks for the heads-up. Like Zoe, I’ve had mixed feeling about him, but I do appreciate his efforts, and seeing different prospectives and articulations of ideas.

Zoe: I read his recent NT Times piece too and I thought it was mostly spot on. I particularly liked his Balzer quote:
“Easy. You want Americans to eat less? I have the diet for you. It’s short, and it’s simple. Here’s my diet plan: Cook it yourself. That’s it. Eat anything you want — just as long as you’re willing to cook it yourself.”
I actually did lose a lot of weight that way.
I’m curious about your take on the article. What bothered you about it?
