
Spring is definitely in gear with all the budding and blooming. And with spring comes new food. Some of the winter markets are still going! Farm stands are opening! Year round farmers markets are moving back outside. The next season of farmers markets are starting to open. This is a good time to be a locavore.
Here’s a small roundup of what’s going on in my area.
Farm stands
- Holbrook Farm in Bethel, Open now. They had the first ramps of the year last week!
- Earth Tones, native plant nursery in Woodbury. Opens April 22, Earth Day
- Ferris Acres Creamery in Newtown. Farm Ice Cream stand opens Tuesday, April 26.
- Maple Bank Farm in Roxbury. Farm stand opens April 30.
- Wild Carrot Farms in Canton. Farm stand opens Friday, April 29.
- Sport Hill Farm in Easton. Farm stand open now on weekends with cool-weather greens. Officially opens for the season in May.
Farmers Markets
- Greenfield Hill Grange (1873 Hillside Road, Fairfield) going until May 7.
- Norfield Grange in Weston going until May 7.
- Gossett’s Farm Market, a year round market is open now and recently moved back outside for the season.
- Litchfield Farmers Market is still indoors until the end of May.
- New Milford Farmers Market opens early in May.
- Westport Farmers Market opens May 26.
