Apple Pie
A traditional favorite, particularly with the crumb topping.
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Make a pie crust. (See Pie Shell, Butter.)
- In a large bowl, combine:

peeled and thinly sliced apples (Northern Spies are a new favorite but Ida Reds also make an exccellent pie.) (6 small to medium-sized apples) |

cinnamon |
1/4 |

salt |

nutmeg |

orange juice |
Pie Shell Topping
- Place the second pie shell over the filling.
- Fold the edge of the top crust under the bottom crust and flute around the edge.
- Cut slits in several places on the top (or get creatively decorative).
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
Crumb Topping
- Mix together until crumbly:

- Crumble crumbs on top of pie.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake an additional 25 to 30 minutes.
