This week, I went to the CitySeed Farmers Market at Wooster Square in New Haven. It’s an outdoor market and I haven’t been there since the winter market began. But with the temperature in the 60s and plans to meet up with Mangochild, there I was!
I scored:
- raw milk from Sankow’s Beaver Brook
- yogurt and heavy cream from Trinity Farm
- fresh spinach from Starlite Farm
- Heirloom Tomato and Basil Pasta Sauce™ from Waldingfield Farm
- eggs and a beef tenderloin from Four Mile River Farm
Mangochild and I share a foodshed and frequent many of the same markets at different times. She is the first blogging locavore I have met in real life. She is much younger than her writing and cooking suggest. We had an excellent chat and given her intelligence, perseverance, and creativity, my hope in the next generation has been restored!
It was great to meet up with you! I had the mixed greens from Starlite last night and the taste…. ahhhhh. Greens. And the perfect weather for it 🙂
