Saturday was a mostly one-stop forage—I went to the Wholesome Wave indoor winter market in Fairfield. I scored:

• Heavy cream and egg nog from Trinity Dairy, Enfield (Smyth Family).
• Pleasant Valley (sheep) cheese from Beaver Brook Farm.
• Parsnips, celeriac, and carrots from Riverbank Farm. Riverbank also has jars of their own tomatoes (I sure wish I knew they’d be doing that—it would have saved me the trouble!) as well asother items.
• Chevre and goat milk yogurt from Beltane Farm.
• Porkchops, bacon, a whole chicken, and eggs from Ox Hollow Farm. By the way, Ox Hollow has large local turkeys, in case you want to have a holiday party or stock up your freezer for the winter.
• Bread from Wave Hill Breads.

I also stopped at the Sandy Hook Holiday event. I picked up some raspberry jam from Stoneledge Farm. I really like it on my yogurt in the morning.

I made a big pot of turkey soup when I got home and froze that.

We had Ox Hollow pork chops and pan sauteéd fennel (Stone Gardens Farm ) for dinner.

And on a totally unrelated note, my area woke up to the first snow of the season today (Sunday).
