Earth Day at New Morning was a fabulous as ever—nearly everyone wss there! As you’ve no doubt discerned, I like to know my farmer and know my food. I’m willing to accept one hop between me and the producer as long as the “hop” knows the producer. John has a relationship with his vendors and makes New Morning a one-hop shop.
The first Earth Day was 40 years ago! (Where’d the time go?) The point of the day is to raise our environmental awareness. I have to admit, there’s a lot more of that now than there was 40 years ago. Could we be doing more? Certainly. We need to care for this planet because if we wreck the joint, we have nowhere else to go.
There are lots of activities this weekend—some in honor of Earth Day and others simply because it’s spring.
Here are some things happening in my proximity:
New Morning Natural Foods in Woodbury is hosting their annual festivities on Saturday, April 24 with drummers and tons of exhibitors, beginning at 11 AM.
The Natural Princess (at Local Food Rocks) has a plethora of activities for celebrating Earth Week!
Holbrook Farm (where every day is Earth Day) is open from 9 AM to 6 PM on Saturday, April 24
