Local Meal of the Week (#8)

Slightly embarrassing and utterly lazy, my local meal of the week was curried lamb stew over rice. The stew was prepared and frozen by Sankow’s Beaver Brook with carrots, potatoes, eggplant, and an assortment of spices. The rice was from, umm (mumble, mumble) Carolina. Picture? You’re kidding, right?

Sankows offers a few different frozen prepared dishes. They’re vendors at both the Wooster Square Marketand the Wholesome Wave market.

  1. Dear Sophie: here’s a thanks to you for keeping up the locavore challenge during these “dark days”. We made a pizza Saturday night substituting curry sauce for the tomato sauce and topped it with steamed, cubed candy roaster squash, caramelized onions, broccoli bits, and made-earlier-in-the-day panir, cubed and sauteed in tamari. One diner called it “sensational”. Peace….cb

  2. Not embarrassing at all – the veg sounds great. I was at the Wooster Square market on Saturday, and didn’t catch Sankow’s – did they come later? I got there around 10am right at the opening when the vendors were still unloading….
